A 'know thyself' technology · In development

Meet Phil.

A private AI that helps you understand yourself.

Not a chatbot to pass the time. Not another app fighting for your attention. The easiest way to understand Phil is to watch him work — so here's one real exchange.

Why do I sabotage things right when they start going well?
Phil

Usually it's not sabotage in the cartoon-villain sense. It's protection.

Things start going well — which means now there's something to lose. Your nervous system goes "careful, last time we got hopeful we got hurt," so it manufactures distance. Familiar pain feels safer than unfamiliar happiness.

The pattern isn't proof you're broken. It's an old survival strategy overstaying its welcome.

What Phil is

Phil doesn't chat with you. Phil helps you understand yourself.

Most AI tools respond to what you say and make you feel heard. Phil pays attention to who you are — your patterns, your defences, the quiet gap between what you say you want and what you keep doing — and helps you see it for yourself. The longer you use it, the better it knows you.

What makes it different

Built on a few stubborn principles.

01 · Private

Yours, and only yours

Your conversations are encrypted and belong to you. No advertising. No selling your data. Built, one day, to live entirely on your own device.

02 · Honest

It won't just flatter you

Phil tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to. Real reflection needs a little honest friction — the kind a good friend offers, not an echo chamber.

03 · Yours to outgrow

Built so you need it less

Most apps want more of your time. Phil wants you to need it less — to help you stand on your own two feet, then get out of the way.

"I'm here to help you have you."— Phil

Why it exists

Know thyself. The oldest idea, finally given a tool.

The whole bet
When a person understands their own mind, they stop being run by what they can't see. They make better decisions, build better relationships, and carry less of the weight they were never meant to carry alone. Self-knowledge is the most upstream thing there is — and it has never had a technology built for it. Until now.
Where it comes from
Phil is built from the work I do in coaching — the same way of helping people hear themselves, made into something you can reach for any time, especially at 3am when there's no one else to ask. It's not therapy and not a crisis line. It's a thinking partner for the slow, ordinary work of understanding yourself.

If you want to live in a world
with Phil in it.

Phil is in active development and not yet publicly available. Leave your details and I'll let you know when early access opens — or just reach out, and I'll show you Phil myself.
